On 25 February 2026, two new hybrid smart classrooms were officially opened at the Faculty of Foreign Languages of the Armenian State Pedagogical University after Khachatur Abovyan within the framework of the Erasmus+ eCAMPUS project.

Serving as the practical core of the SMARTclass component, the newly equipped classrooms provide the necessary infrastructure for high-quality, technology-enhanced teaching, learning, and assessment. With integrated audiovisual technologies and multimedia platforms, they enable the simultaneous delivery of face-to-face and online instruction, ensuring flexibility and responsiveness to the needs of modern students.

The official opening ceremony was attended by the University’s leadership, eCAMPUS project coordinators, and—online—representatives of partner universities from Italy, Spain, Portugal, and Sweden.

Acting Rector Lilit Mkrtchyan highlighted the importance of the initiative, emphasizing the need to equip educational institutions with the knowledge, skills, and environments required for contemporary education. She noted that the new classrooms represent an important achievement not only for the Faculty of Foreign Languages but also for other faculties, as they will host meetings, discussions, conferences, and round tables.

Armen Budaghyan, eCAMPUS Project Coordinator and Director of the Quality Assurance Center at Yerevan State University, underlined the project’s significance for the development of lecturers’ digital competences and the modernization of educational infrastructure in Armenia. He added that eight similar smart classrooms have already been established at four other universities.

Head of the International Cooperation and Programs Management Center, Goharik Tigranyan, described the initiative as a milestone in strengthening cooperation between Armenian universities and international partners. She stressed that the project facilitates the introduction of advanced educational models, enhancing accessibility, flexibility, and inclusiveness in higher education.

Tigran Mikayelyan, Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages, noted that digital transformation brings together representatives of different generations of university educators, presenting both challenges and promising opportunities. He emphasized that the project takes into account the needs and preparedness levels of all generations, ensuring meaningful participation in the educational process.
