On December 16, 2025, at 10AM, another hybrid smart classroom opened at the YSU Faculty of International Relations within the framework of the eCAMPUS project of the Erasmus+ Programme. The classroom was renovated using the University’s funds and furnished with the support of the European Union’s Erasmus+ Programme.
Referring to the advantages of hybrid classrooms, YSU Rector Hovhannes Hovhannisyan noted that they are a new development in Armenia.
The Dean of the Faculty of International Relations, Tigran Yepremyan, described the opening of the hybrid classroom as another step forward in the field of education, emphasising that the Faculty also involves lecturers from foreign universities in its Master’s programmes.
From New Zealand, Professor Ruben Azizyan of the Chair of International Relations and Diplomacy delivered his welcoming remarks via remote connection. He conducts his courses in an online format and periodically visits YSU to participate in academic conferences. Referring to the Faculty’s academic and research processes, which align with geopolitical developments, the Professor emphasised that studies of the East, Europe, and Eurasia are already well developed in Armenia and expressed the view that there is now a need to further strengthen studies of Asia and China in order to deepen knowledge of those regions as well.
Václav Štěrba, Deputy Head of the Cooperation Section of the Delegation of the European Union to Armenia, described his visit to YSU and seeing the newly opened classroom as inspiring.
The representative of the EU Delegation to Armenia emphasised that the European Union views Armenia as one of the key countries in the European neighbourhood and is making efforts to further develop relations with Armenia.
It should be noted that the aim of the “eCAMPUS” project is to enhance the digital competences and skills of academic staff and to improve the quality of online teaching, learning, and assessment in line with the EU Digital Education Action Plan 2021–2027 through the introduction of digital-equivalent systems.
